These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Clean Step Mats provides cleaning services to domestic and commercial customers across the UK. By requesting, booking or using our services, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Clean Step Mats was founded in 2011 and provides cleaning services for homes, businesses, new builds, construction projects, refurbishments and other properties. These terms are intended to ensure that both Clean Step Mats and its customers have a clear understanding of the services being provided, customer responsibilities and the arrangements applying to each project.
About Clean Step Mats
Clean Step Mats is a professional cleaning company providing services for residential and commercial properties. Our services may include post-construction cleaning, basement cleaning, new build cleaning, construction cleaning and property maintenance support.
The exact services provided will depend on the requirements of the property, its condition, the scope of work agreed and the quotation or booking confirmation issued to the customer.
Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms and Conditions apply when you request a quotation, make a booking, accept a quotation or instruct Clean Step Mats to carry out cleaning services.
By proceeding with a booking, you confirm that you have read and understood these terms and agree to comply with them.
Where a separate written agreement, quotation or contract has been provided for a particular project, the specific terms contained within that agreement may apply alongside these Terms and Conditions. If there is a conflict between documents, the specific written agreement will take precedence to the extent of the conflict.
Quotations and Estimates
Where appropriate, Clean Step Mats will provide a quotation or estimate based on the information supplied by the customer and the circumstances known at the time.
Quotations may take into account factors including:
- The size and type of property.
- The condition of the areas requiring cleaning.
- The type of cleaning required.
- The amount of dust, dirt, debris or residue present.
- Whether the property is residential, commercial or under construction.
- The accessibility of the areas requiring attention.
- The number of cleaners or amount of time reasonably required.
- Any specialist requirements identified before work begins.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, a quotation is based on the information provided to us and the condition of the property as reasonably understood when the quotation is prepared.
If the condition, size, accessibility or requirements of the property differ materially from the information provided, Clean Step Mats may need to revise the quotation before carrying out additional work.
Scope of Cleaning Services

The scope of each cleaning assignment will be agreed with the customer before work begins wherever reasonably possible.
Cleaning services are intended to address the agreed areas and tasks. We do not automatically undertake work that falls outside the agreed scope.
For construction and post-construction cleaning, the level of dust, plaster, cement residue, adhesive, paint, building materials and other construction-related debris can vary significantly between properties. The customer should provide accurate information about the condition of the site so that an appropriate service can be arranged.
Where additional cleaning is required because the property is substantially dirtier or more difficult to clean than originally described, additional charges may apply if further work is requested or reasonably required to complete the revised scope.
Customer Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for providing accurate information about the property and the cleaning required.
Before cleaning begins, customers should:
- Provide accurate access instructions.
- Identify areas that require particular attention.
- Inform us about known hazards or unusual conditions.
- Remove or secure valuable, fragile or personal items where appropriate.
- Ensure that the property can be safely accessed by our cleaning team.
- Provide any information reasonably necessary to carry out the agreed service.
- Ensure that other contractors or occupants do not unnecessarily obstruct the areas being cleaned.
For construction and refurbishment projects, the customer or site manager should ensure that the areas to be cleaned are ready for the agreed cleaning activities and that any relevant health and safety instructions are communicated to us.
Access to the Property
The customer must provide suitable access to the property at the agreed time.
If our cleaners cannot access the property because keys are unavailable, access instructions are incorrect, the site is locked or another person prevents entry, this may result in delays or additional charges where applicable.
Customers should inform us as soon as possible if access arrangements change.
Construction and Building Sites

Cleaning work undertaken on construction, refurbishment or renovation sites may involve working around building materials, equipment, unfinished surfaces and other site conditions.
The customer, contractor or site manager remains responsible for ensuring that the site is reasonably safe and suitable for our team to carry out the agreed cleaning work.
We may decline, postpone or stop work where we reasonably consider that conditions present an unacceptable health and safety risk to our employees, contractors or other persons.
Where cleaning cannot safely proceed because of site conditions outside our control, the customer may be required to arrange a further appointment once the relevant issue has been resolved.
Health and Safety
Clean Step Mats takes reasonable steps to carry out its services in a responsible and professional manner. Customers should also follow our safety procedures and any instructions provided by our cleaning team while services are being carried out.
Customers must disclose any known hazards that could affect the safety of our cleaning personnel. This may include hazardous substances, unsafe access, exposed electrical equipment, structural concerns, restricted areas or other unusual risks.
Our team may refuse to undertake work that would require them to enter an unsafe area or handle materials that fall outside the agreed cleaning service.
Cleaning Products and Equipment

Clean Step Mats may use appropriate cleaning products, equipment and methods according to the requirements of the agreed service.
Customers should inform us before work begins about any known sensitivities, restrictions or material-specific requirements that could affect the choice of cleaning products or methods.
Where a customer requires a particular product, chemical, method or treatment, we may need to assess whether it is suitable before agreeing to use it.
Delicate or Specialist Surfaces
Some surfaces and materials require specialist treatment or particular cleaning methods. Customers should notify us of any delicate, unusual or sensitive surfaces before cleaning begins.
Where the customer has not disclosed relevant information about a surface, finish, coating or material, Clean Step Mats cannot be responsible for issues arising solely from information that was not reasonably available to us before the work was undertaken.
We may decline to clean materials or surfaces where we reasonably believe that doing so could cause damage or where the required treatment falls outside the services we provide.
Payment

Payment arrangements will be communicated to the customer when the service is booked or quoted. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due in accordance with the payment terms stated on the quotation, invoice or booking confirmation.
Customers are responsible for paying the agreed charges by the applicable due date. Where payment is overdue, Clean Step Mats may suspend further services until the outstanding balance has been resolved.
Additional cleaning or other work outside the original agreed scope may incur additional charges. Where practical, we will discuss the additional requirements and any associated costs with the customer before proceeding.
Cancellation and Rescheduling

Customers should provide as much notice as reasonably possible if they need to cancel or reschedule a cleaning appointment.
Cancellation or rescheduling arrangements may depend on the type of service booked, the notice provided and whether resources have already been allocated to the project.
Any cancellation charges or other applicable terms will be communicated to the customer where relevant.
Nothing in these terms is intended to remove or restrict any cancellation or consumer rights that apply under UK law.
Inspection and Completion of Work

Customers should inspect the completed cleaning service as soon as reasonably possible after the work has been carried out.
If you believe that an agreed area has not been cleaned to the required standard, please contact Clean Step Mats promptly and provide details of the concern.
Where a genuine issue relates to the agreed scope of work, we will consider the matter and, where appropriate, arrange a reasonable remedy.
Complaints
We aim to resolve concerns fairly and efficiently. Customers should raise any complaint with Clean Step Mats as soon as possible, providing sufficient information for us to investigate the matter.
Where appropriate, we may request photographs, details of the affected area or other information to help us understand the complaint.
Our first objective will generally be to investigate the issue and determine whether a reasonable corrective action is appropriate.
Property and Personal Belongings

Customers remain responsible for valuable, fragile, sentimental or otherwise sensitive belongings located within the property.
Where possible, such items should be removed from areas being cleaned or clearly identified before work begins.
Our cleaning team will take reasonable care while carrying out the agreed services, but customers should not leave valuable or irreplaceable items in areas where cleaning equipment or products will be used.
Keys and Access Devices
Where keys, access cards, codes or other access devices are provided to Clean Step Mats, customers must ensure that the information supplied is accurate and suitable for the agreed appointment.
Customers should inform us promptly if access arrangements or security requirements change.
Liability

Clean Step Mats will provide its services with reasonable care and skill. We maintain appropriate cleaning services insurance for our business activities, subject to the applicable policy terms and conditions.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful. This includes liability that cannot legally be excluded or restricted under applicable UK law.
Subject to the foregoing, Clean Step Mats will not be responsible for losses arising from circumstances outside its reasonable control or from inaccurate, incomplete or misleading information supplied by the customer.
We are also not responsible for pre-existing damage, defects, deterioration or weaknesses in property, fixtures, fittings, surfaces or belongings where such issues were not caused by our services.
Contractors, Tradespeople and Third Parties

On construction and refurbishment projects, Clean Step Mats may work alongside contractors, tradespeople, property managers and other third parties.
Unless specifically agreed otherwise, Clean Step Mats is responsible only for the cleaning services it has been contracted to provide and is not responsible for the actions, omissions, delays or workmanship of other contractors.
